Frequently asked questions
How private is an encrypted call here?
- The audio is encrypted end to end and passes through a relay, so participants never see each other's IP address. The relay's host can see that connections exist, but cannot listen — and we record nothing. What no tool can prevent: someone recording on their side, with their phone or another device.
Can screenshots be blocked?
- No — no website can block screenshots, on any device. The watermark on photos and videos and the shortcut alert are deterrents: they make a capture identifiable, nothing more. The conversation rests on trust, not on technique.
Is the anonymous mode completely anonymous?
- Between participants, yes, by construction: the whole room shares a single identity on the server, so nothing in our database links a message to a person — we cannot tell who wrote what either. It is not anonymous towards the hosting infrastructure, which sees a connection and its IP address at the moment you send, like on any website.
Does the voice mask make me unrecognizable?
- No. It disguises the sound, not the person: your accent, your pace and your turns of phrase pass through unchanged, and someone who knows you will recognize you. It is a disguise — never a way to speak without being identified.
What happens to a message nobody reads?
- It is destroyed on our servers after about a minute without being read — a little longer in rooms and for attachments, the time they can be downloaded. That is the price of ephemerality: nothing is set aside for later.
Does the link disappear with the conversation?
- No. The link carries the decryption key and survives the conversation it opened: it stays in each participant's browser history and in the messaging app you sent it through, including its backups. Delete it where it served — or show the QR code to someone present instead, which deposits the link nowhere.
Do I need an account, an app or a phone number?
- None of the three. Everything runs in the browser, on phone and desktop. The flip side: there are no notifications — a call only rings if the conversation is open on the other person's screen.
