Downloading by link reads what the platform serves publicly — without an account and without breaking any encryption. Only download content you hold the rights to: the responsibility is yours, and some platforms forbid downloading in their terms of use.
The file passes through our server at download time — without being kept there: nothing is hosted on our side, and no account is required.
- Platforms defend themselves against automated retrieval: a content item can be refused from our servers — YouTube does it often — while the link opens fine in your browser. The failure is then named; it comes neither from you nor from your link.
- When a platform splits image and sound into two streams (YouTube above 360p), our server merges them into one MP4 before delivering it — up to 180 MB per merge, 300 MB for a file served whole. Whatever exceeds these ceilings is written out, not hidden.
- Private, deleted or geo-restricted content returns nothing — no metadata, no file: this tool signs in to no account for a link.
- PHOTOS download too: an Instagram post or carousel returns each image at full resolution, a tweet its photos at original size, a Facebook post its full-size photo — Facebook only serves the FIRST photo of a carousel without a session, and that is written rather than promised. A live (livestream, Space) travels in pieces and is not offered, and a post that merely quotes a YouTube link has nothing to download here.
- The Instagram STORIES of a PUBLIC account download by username, during their 24 hours. A story is never served without a session: the server uses a dedicated service account for this — never yours — and when it is not connected, the screen says so instead of failing silently. Stories from a private account are not served, and Facebook serves its stories to no tool — here or elsewhere.
- WhatsApp cannot be downloaded by link, here or anywhere: messages and statuses are end-to-end encrypted. Save the media from WhatsApp (Download in the conversation), then import the file into the workshop — everything opens on it.
